Development of automatic submerged arc welding with deep narrow groove weld for K-500-65/1500 and K-1200-240/3000 turbine rotors for nuclear and thermal power plants

Description

A technology and a suitable apparatus have been developed for welding turbine rotors of steels 24Kh2NMFA and 20Kh2NMFASh. It is shown that the use of the welding wire type Sv-08KhN2GMYu and oxidizing flux AN-17M provides for stable arcing, good weld formation, low gas content in the weld metal and the following mechanical properties of welded joints: yield limit 50-55 kg/mm2; elongation 14%; impact viscosity over 6 kg m/cm2. To avoid lowering the strength properties of the welded joints they are not recommended to be annealed at temperatures exceeding 650 deg C
