Magnetic exit on in a two-layer system

Description

The bound state of a light electron of mass me and a heavy hole of mass mh (mh>>me) in a two-layered system is considered in the magnetic field. A new method of calculation is proposed, which has permitted us to find the ground state energy of the magnetic exciton and the spectrum of its excited states without using the assumption of smallness of the Coulomb interaction. The effective mass m* and the dependence of the energy of the exciton upon its impulse Φ are found. The exciton behaviour in crossed electric and magnetic fields is studied. The results obtained can be used to analyze experiments in real magnetic fields approx 104-105 Oe for semiconductors such as InSb, GaAs, etc., where the relation me/mh ≤ 0.1 holds
