Plutonium (4) reduction by hydrazine in the presence of solid-phase catalysts in nitric acid solutions

Description

Spectrophotometric method is used to study kinetics of plutonium (4) reduction by hydrazine in the nitric acid solutions in the presence of high-dispersed metallic platinum applied to inert supporter. It is shown that catalytic reduction of plutonium (4) proceeds irreversibly by the first order relatively the metal. The reaction rate constant increases with the growth of catalysts: solution (s:l) phase ratio, the platinum quantity on a supporter the reducing agent concentration and is independent of H+ concentration. EA of Pu(4) catalytic reduction, being equal to 23 kJ/mol, is estimated
