Performance of the HMS drift chambers in the CEBAF 2.2 GeV electron beam

Description

The initial performance of the multiwire drift chambers used for particle tracking in the High Momentum Spectrometer (HMS) in Hall C at CEBAF has been studied using electron beam energies of up to 2.2 GeV. These chambers are used to reconstruct charged particle trajectory positions and angles in the focal plane, and then in conjunction with the spectrometer magnet optics, identify the coordinates, angles, and momenta at the target. A report will be given on the chamber design, the procedure for data acquisition and analysis, and performance results
