Peculiarities of synthesis and sintering processes of chromium-magnesian spinel (CMS) at their combining under the conditions of single-step calcination are investigated. A principal possibility of preparing sintered chromium-magnesian ceramics according to simplified technology is revealed. CMS technical properties are given. CMS test as an insulator in the channel of a MHD-generator operating on coal fuel is conducted
