Temperature dependences of tungsten and molybdenum strength

  • 1. AN Ukrainskoj SSR, Kiev. Inst. Problem Prochnosti

Description

General principles governing the variation of the strength properties of crystalline materials with temperature have been formulated. These principles have been confirmed by studying tungsten and molybdenum in the temperature range of (0.1-0.96) Tsub(melt). The calculation results for the plastic deformation activation energy in various temperature regions are correlated and found to be in agreement with the known values for the self-diffusion activation energy, secondary creep and tungsten internal friction. The possible principal mechanisms of plastic deformation in various temperature regions are discussed
