Assessment of skin dose and dose build-up in 60CO and 137Cs beam therapy using LiF and Li2B4O7 thermoluminescent dosimeters

  • 1. Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Bombay (India). Div. of Radiation Protection

Description

LiF and Li2B4O7 dosimeters in the phosphor form were employed for the purpose of studying the dose gradient in the build-up region for Co60 and Cs137 teletherapy beams. The variation of skin dose with the change of position with respect to skin of the secondary electron filter generally used to reduce the electron contamination has been investigated for various field sizes of Co60. The relative magnitude of skin dose for different modes of irradiation with beam limiting cones and diaphragms has been investigated for Cs137 teletherapy unit. (author)
