Localization of ANDRITZ RCP for Korean 1400 MW APR together with HYUNDAI heavy industries Co. Ltd(HHI)
Description
The next generation of nuclear power stations in Korea will have to fulfil new expectations in terms of cooperation between Korean suppliers and suppliers from abroad. This applies also and especially to the reactor coolant pumps (RCP) for the primary circuit of pressurized water reactor type nuclear power plants (PWR NPP). For 4 decades, ANDRITZ AG has developed and built RCPs and has attached great importance to the design of the complete pump and respective cooperation with various customers and operators in different countries. On the other hand HHI has enjoyed a reputation on various pumps of nuclear power plants since 1981 and now will expand its pump production with focus on RCP for Korean 1400 MW APR. Apart from all relevant questions connected with design and functioning of the pump there are now the following questions of top priority: What about the experience, the hydraulic development and the main features of the HHI-ANDRITZ RCP?. How to organize the cooperation? Is there any recommendation concerning maintenance of future RCP? Therefore it is intended to describe the current status of design and development of HHI-ANDRITZ RCP for future Korean NPPs, to present the most important design features, to explain the step by step procedure in order to localize the RCP technology in S-Korea within the next years and to give already a very first recommendation how to do the inspection of certain RCP-components over a time period of 16 years
