Mean excitation energy and neutron emission following muon capture in medium-heavy nuclei
Description
It is shown that calculated mean nuclear-excitation energies in muon capture account for the observed emission of neutrons from medium-heavy nuclei. The results confirm the finding of a decreasing average momentum ν of the emitted neutrino in heavy nuclei, while the hypothesis of a constant ν is untenable
