This consolidated report was prepared on the basis of only available national report transmitted by the Government of France, practical experience in the operation of underground gas storage facilities in the former USSR, and information drawn from technical journals. Above-ground installations at underground gas storage facilities can be classified as main and ancillary installations. Main installations are the equipment for treating, compressing, distributing and metering the gas. Ancillary installations are the equipment required to support the main processes at the facility. The report comprises three sections, dealing respectively with gas-treatment installations, compressor stations and automated control of the main processes at underground storage sites
