Description

Extracts from Jatropha zeyheri were found to possess antimicrobial activity. The structure of the active compound, 2,3,6a,7,8,9,10a-decahydro-2,5-dimethyl-3-hydroxy-10-methylene-7-(1-methylethenyl)benz(e)azulene-1,4-dione, has been determined by means of the two-dimensional INADEQUATE 13C n.m.r. experiment. Configurational information was obtained by proton-proton coupling constants
