Examples of thermal shocks in power plants
Description
Transients are inherent in the operation of electricity generating fossil and/or nuclear power stations. These transients produce temperature changes and even thermal shocks which induce thermal stresses in components, wherely cumulative effects, damage may occur. Examples of thermal effects collected on composants of fossil and/or nuclear units (boiler, superheaters, nozzles of primary piping system, tube sheat of high pressure feed heater, high pressure turbine cylinder, intermediate pressure high temperature turbine cylinder) are cited. Theoretical and experimental studies carried out for purposes of analysis, and checking and monitoring of thermal effects are presented

Les regimes transitoires sont inherents au fonctionnement des centrales thermiques, classiques ou nucleaires de production d'electricite. Ces regimes sont a l'origine de variations de temperature et parfois meme de 'chocs thermiques' qui engendrent des contraintes thermiques dans les materiels ou, par effet cumulatif, des dommages peuvent meme se produire. Des exemples de sollicitations thermiques releves sur des materiels de centrales thermiques, classiques ou nucleaires (reservoir de chaudiere, surchauffeur, piquage de circuit primaire de reacteur, plaque tubulaire de rechauffeur, corps de turbine HP, rotor de turbine MPT) sont presentes.
