Anomalous Josephson current by odd frequency Cooper pairs

Description

The Josephson effect in superconductor/diffusive normal metal/superconductor junctions is studied theoretically, where the p-wave pairing symmetry is assumed in superconductors. The amplitudes of the Josephson current become much larger than those in the s-wave junctions because of a cooperative effect between the midgap Andreev resonant states and the proximity effect. We show that the Josephson current is carried by the odd-frequency Cooper pairs in diffusive metals
