Mechanisms of repair and compensation of hemotopoiesis in the bone marrow of dogs under non-uniform irradiation
Description
In the sternal and iliac bone marrow of dogs the hematopoiesis under differently varied non-uniform effects of radiation was checked. A subtotal (shielding of the pelvis) irradiation, a general non-uniform irradiation as well as an irradiation done twice with an equally high dose (90 mC/kg and 129 mC/kg, respectively) were applied in an interval of 1.5 to 3 months. In all test series the results were unequivocal. They showed that in those areas of the bone marrow of one and the same animal which were irradiated least of all the repairing regeneration after irradiation was considerably more active than in the most affected parts.
