Calorimetry at the Linear Collider

  • 1. Argonne National Laboratory, Argonne, IL (United States)

Description

The potential to extract physics at the International Linear Collider depends critically on the jet energy resolution of the detector. The design goal is 30%/sqrt(E), which is roughly a factor two better than what has been achieved previously. After a short review of the Linear Collider project, I will discuss a novel approach to the measurement of jets and the resulting requirements on calorimetry. I will present the ongoing vigorous R and D program geared at designing and testing the technical implementation of these new ideas.
