Description
Objective: To explore the evaluative value of plasma brain natriuretic peptide(BNP) in the early diagnosis of hyperthyroid heart disease and the assessment of left ventricular function. Methods: The levels of plasma BNP and serum FT3, FT4, T3, T4, TSH were measured and compared in 49 cases of patients with hyperthyroid heart disease, 28 patients with hyperthyroidism and 30 healthy controls. Combined with LVEF, LVEDD and LVESD, study on the value of BNP in the assessment of the left ventricular function in patients with hyperthyroid heart disease. Results: The BNP levels of patients with hyperthyroid heart disease showed significantly higher than those in hyperthyroidism group and the normal group (P < 0.01), and increasing with the degree of cardiac disfunction. Echocardiography index also suggests that hyperthyroidism heart patients have impaired left ventricular dysfunction. Conclusion: Combined measured with echocardiography, the level of BNP can be used for early diagnosis and the assessment of left ventricular function in patients with hyperthyroid heart disease.
