Neutron orbit sizes in the ground states of the molybdenum isotopes

  • 1. Manchester Univ. (UK). Schuster Lab.

Description

The root-mean-square radii of the 2dsub(5/2) neutron orbits in the ground states of molybdenum isotopes with A = 93,95,97 have been determined from a DWBA analysis of cross section data from the sub-Coulomb (t,d) reaction. The differential cross sections for the (t,d) reaction were measured at laboratory angles in the range from 900 to 1600 for triton energies in the range from 3.75 to 4.50 MeV. The spectroscopic factors of the populated states were obtained from a sum-rule analysis of published neutron stripping and pick-up reactions on the isotopes of molybdenum. The behaviour of the neutron orbit size, the parameters of the neutron bound-state potential and the tail size of the neutron wavefunction within the isotopic sequence of final nuclei are discussed.
