Description
This study aimed to reinforce the survey data on the radiocesium concentrations of paddy field soil of the municipalities with nuclear reactors around Japan that were reported in the previous paper (Report I). It chose the municipalities abundant with nuclear facilities in Japan and China's Yangtze River lower reaches (vicinity of Taihu Lake), and clarified the level of radiocesium concentrations, while adding the data of agricultural land soils other than paddy field soils. In order to obtain the standard of reaching distance of radioactive materials, the authors surveyed the reaching distance of radioactive 129I released from the Tokai village reprocessing facilities. The 129I concentrations at 2, 15, 130, 230 km points from the exhaust pipe of the reprocessing facilities were 35, 11, 0.78, 0.13 mBq/kg dry soil, and the lowest 0.13 mBq/kg dry soil was at the background level. From this fact, it was suggested that 129I released into the atmosphere due to radiation leakage accident etc. reaches far from 130 km. According to the survey results of radiocesium concentrations, it was presumed that there was no radioactive leakage/contamination, which is a problematic issue at nuclear facilities in any region. In addition, the differences in concentrations of radiocesium between the regions due to the difference in the number of precipitation day and the positional correlation of east and west reinforced the results of the previous report. Furthermore, this study compared/contrasted these data with the concentration distribution of radiocesium in the arable soil of eastern Japan after the Fukushima nuclear accident, and these data were effective as background data.
