Effect of dislocation elastic fields on equilibrium configurations of selfinterstitial atoms in cubic crystals
Creators
Description
Parameters of edge and screw dislocation interaction with different configurations of self interstitial atom (SIA) in iron body-centered cubic (bcc) crystal are obtained using elasticity anysotropic theory methods. Strong effect of dislocation-induced stress elastic fields on SIA stable configuration type is demonstrated. Dislocation elastic stress fields stabilize SIA configurations which are metastable in the absence of these fields. Qualitative differences of SIA diffusion processes in edge and screw dislocation elastic fields are illustrated. Formation of cravdion configuration near the edge dislocation leads to interstitial atom hovering in the dislocation vicinity. BCC-crystal radiation weakening effect, conditioned by radiation-stimulated increase of screw dislocation mobility, is explained on the basis of the results obtained
