Description
Six species of Gryllidae — Gryllus assimilis, G. bimaculatus, G. pennsylvanicus, Acheta domesticus, Scapsipedus marginatus and Allonemobius allardi — were subjected to gamma radiation treatment (dosages varied from 1000 rads to 2446 rads) in order to induce chromosomal abnormalities. Gamma radiation was found to affect development, survival and reproduction. Effects of gamma rays were similar in all of the species studied, but sensitivity varied between the different species.
