Possible routes by which radioactive materials may enter the human body are indicated. The problem of radiotoxicity is discussed in connection with that of radionuclide distribution in the body. Other problems dealt with include: objectives and methods of dosimetry in estimating dose commitments from internal radionuclides; general rules in handling unsealed radioactive substances; contamination monitoring and decontamination procedures; and radiation protection problems in nuclear medicine.
