Numerical study of the dependence of stationary distribution of photoneutrons on the rock parameters
- 1. AN SSSR, Novosibirsk. Vychislitel'nyj Tsentr
Description
The dependence of a neutron flux on the moisture and density of beryllium compounds in rocks was studied for different energy ranges. The neutrons are formed in a nuclear reaction that takes place when the rocks are gamma irradiated from a point isotropic source located beneath the ''semi-infinite'' rocks. Beryllium is considered to be homogeneously distributed in the rock; in one case the beryllium is considered to be homogeneously distributed in a layer parallel to the boundary. The gamma energies of the source are 1.692 and 2.1 MeV. Numerical results are obtained by a direct Monte Carlo method. A comparison with geophysical data is given
