How to make a back-action evading (BAE) measurement
Description
The detection of gravitational radiation using a Weber-type resonant antenna consists of observing the effect of a weak classical force F(t) (gravitational strain) acting on a one dimensional simple harmonic oscillator. These observations are in turn made with a transducer attached to the simple harmonic oscillator. The author describes the development of a unique rf coupling scheme that will allow the superconducting accelerometer, a linear transducer, to be coupled approximately to the complex amplitude of the gravitational wave antenna.
