Description
A theoretical approach to the enhanced collection and removal of highly dispersed aerosols from high temperature, high velocity gas flows is presented and described in this article. Using heterogeneous condensation of a series of vapors of species with increasing volatility and high surface tension, vapor condenses directly onto particles in a high temperature, high velocity gas. The particle diameter increase rapidly to a size that is efficiently removed in commercially available filters without producing excess waste from material that does not condense on the particles. The method has the potential for significant particulate emission reduction in treatment of hazardous waste, mixed hazardous radioactive waste, and industrial offgas systems
