Description

Analyses of the XRD patterns and the scanning electron micrographs (SEM) of the nominal YBa2-xSrxCu3O7-δ, x ≤2.0 samples, carefully prepared by solid state reaction route, reveal that the samples with x ≤1.15 are mono-phasic orthorhombic 1-2-3, while the x>1.15 samples, in addition to 1-2-3, exhibit secondary phases. This is further evidenced by EDX analysis. Tc has been observed to fall monotonically with x for x ≤ 1.15. These findings, in our view, settle the controversy regarding the Sr solubility limit which is x = 1.15 in YBa2-xSrxCu3O7-δ. (author)
