Test of quantum electrodynamics by a study of the reaction e+e- → μ+-μ-+ at the center of mass energy of 5.2 GeV
Creators
Description
A study of the time-like reaction e+e- → μ+-μ-+ at angles close to 900, relative to Bhabha scattering at 3.70, was made at a center of mass energy equal to 5.2 GeV. The experiment was conducted at the SLAC colliding beams facility and the muon pairs were detected and identified through time of flight and reconstructed trajectory information. The results were found to be in good agreement with Quantum Electrodynamics, within an experimental error of 16 percent
