Radiation effects on extraction with tertiary amines

Description

Given are the experimental results obtained in studying the effects of ionizing radiation upon the extraction with tertiary aliphatic amines. Primary attention was given to such factors as the dose rate, the nature of the diluent and the amine structure. Tri-n-octyl, tri-n-decil, tri-n-dodecilamine were used. The diluents were n-octan and n-butylbenzene. Water solutions used for extraction contained macroamounts of uranium, gram amounts of plutonium and indicator amounts of 95Zr-95Nb and 106Ru. The data given permits to consider that under a due set of conditions (the diluent, the reextracting solution, the regeneration method) tertiary aliphatic amines can be viewed as prospective extractants for the reprocessing of operating solutions with the specific activity up to 10000 Cu/l
