Measuring the integral characteristics of nucleon fields behind the shielding of proton accelerators by plastic scintillators operating in the spectrometric mode

Description
A method is described for measuring the fluences of neutrons and protons with energies above 10-20 MeV in the radiation fields behind the shielding of proton accelerators, using two active detectors based on plastic scintillators of different sizes operating in the spectrometric mode, and for measuring the total dose equivalent due to hadrons by such a detector. Some experimental data obtained behind the IHEP U-70 synchrotron shielding are presented. The measurement results are compared with the data obtained with a high energy neutron spectrometer based on a plastic scintillator with anticoincidence protection against the charged component.
