Study of the reactions (γ,π) and (γ,πxn) in medium and medium-heavy nuclei

  • 1. Erevan State Univ. (USSR)

Description

The activation method has been used to investigate the yields of (γ,π) and (γ,πxn) reactions in the nuclei 60Ni, 65Cu, and 120,124Sn as a function of target thickness at a bremsstrahlung maximum energy 4.5 GeV. It has been established that the yields of (γ,πxn) reactions remain constant within experimental error, while for (γ,π) reactions they increase with increase of the target thickness, which is due to the contribution of secondary reactions. As the result of taking into account this contribution the authors have determined the true yield values of 12 (γπ) reactions
