Fuel assembly
- 1. Nippon Atomic Industry Group Co. Ltd., Tokyo
Description
Purpose: To flatten the axial power distribution of a fuel assembly without complicating the enrichment degree or gadolinia distribution in a fuel rod. Constitution: The fuel assembly for use in BWR type reactor according to the present invention has such a shape that the amount of moderators is increased upwardly in which water rods disposed with water removing portions of small neutron absorbing cross section are disposed in the lower region. The water removing portions are filled with porous pellets sintered from ceramics to constitute a water-proof structure. Further, burnable poisons may be added to the water removing portion. This can flatten the axial power distribution without deteriorating the fuel integrity. (Takahashi, M.)
