Surface facilities for geological deep repositories - Jura east siting proposal
Description
This illustrated document published by the Swiss National Cooperative for the Disposal of Radioactive Waste (NAGRA) presents two proposals for the surface facilities for the geological deep repository for radioactive wastes in the eastern Jura site. It discusses the placing of the surface facilities and the access tunnels to the depository. The packaging facilities for the nuclear wastes, including spent fuel rods as well as wastes that demonstrate high, medium and low radioactivity are discussed. Also, transport installations for excavated material and for the delivery of the radioactive wastes are looked at. Proposals for secondary access tunnels and ventilation shafts are described. Maps and detailed sketches for the surface installation variants are provided.
