Self-sustained distribution function and generation of run-away electrons

  • 1. AN SSSR, Moscow (Russian Federation). Fizicheskij Inst.

Description

The article presents the theory of anomalous plasma resistance suppression by ion-sound turbulence (IST) due to production of runaway electrons. It is shown that after the time period which is much more that electron temperature doubling time, a self-sustained distribution of the bulk of electrons. Under conditions of self-sustained distribution, the share of run-away electrons is comparatively small. However, precisely these electrons govern current velocity and kinetic energy of electrons. At the same time, the obtained self-sustained solution features a low but finite flux of particles in the space of velocities. With the time being, such flux results in exhaustion of the density of the bulk of electrons, increase of the share of run-away electrons and transfer to asymptotic operation conditions
