Spectral-luminescence properties of neodymium in alkali phosphate glasses

Description

Spectral luminescence properties of alkali lanthane prosphate neodymium glasses are determined. The properties of earlier studied alkali-free and lithium lanthane phosphate glasses are compared. It is shown that the probability of neodymium luminescence quenching in Me+(La, Nd)UPG both in the cross-relaxation scheme and by oscillations of the OH groups linearly depends on activator concentration (1-14)x1020 cm-3. The contribution from quenching by OH groups oscillations at KOH=5 cm-1 in the above range of activator concentrations exceeds (or equals) the contribution from the quenching by the cross relaxation scheme. The probability of neodymium luminescence quenching by the cross relaxation scheme at KOH=0 increases with the growth of alkali cation field strength in the Cs-Li series and the probability of neodymium luminescence quenching by OH group oscillations at KOH>0 increases during UPG transition from Cs to Li(La, Nd)
