Multimuon final states in high energy muon interactions
Description
Multimuon final states observed in the MSU-Fermilab deep inelastic muon scattering apparatus are presented. These events, observed at both 150 and 275-GeV, are more numerous and the extra muons have qualitative different production characteristics than muons expected from conventional sources. Origin of these events are examined. The implication of the data on the understanding of scaling violation observed in muon scattering is discussed. (orig.)

Endzustaende mit mehreren Myonen, beobachtet mit Hilfe der MSU-Fermilab-Apparatur fuer tief inelastische Myonstreuung, werden vorgestellt. Diese Ereignisse, beobachtet bei 150 und 275 GeV, sind zahlreicher als die Myonen aus konventionellen Quellen; ebenso zeigen die zusaetzlichen Myonen eine qualitativ andere Erzeugungscharakteristik. Der Ursprung dieser Ereignisse wird untersucht. Die Folgerungen der Daten im Hinblick auf das Verstaendnis der bei der Myonenstreuung beobachteten Verletzung des Skalenverhaltens wird diskutiert.
