g-factor of the 2256.3 KeV high spin isomer in 182Re

  • 1. Tata Inst. of Fundamental Research, Bombay (India)

Description

g-factor measurements of the 2256.3 KeV isomer in 182Re were done through the in-beam perturbed angular distribution technique. This isomer was populated through 181Ta(α,3n)182Re reaction using α-beam with energy Eα = 45 MeV to bombard thick tantalum foil placed between the tips of an electromagnet. The g-factor was obtained from the R which was defined as R = ΓN(+135deg, B,t) - N(-135deg, B,t)Ν/ΓN(+135deg, B,t) + N(-135deg, B,t)Ν where N(+-135deg, B,t) are the counting rates in the detectors at ± 135deg in the presence of an external magnetic field B = 16.2 kG., the calculated values of g-factor indicate a three neutron and one proton configuration.
