Peculiarities of γ-irradiation and α-particle action on polyvinylidene fluoride
- 1. AN Ukrainskoj SSR, Kiev (Ukraine). Inst. Fizicheskoj Khimii
Description
The influence of 60Co γ-radiation and 22 MeV α-particles on polyvinylidene fluoride was studied. It is shown that the change in radiation LET from 0.2 to 50 keV/$mu$m does not affect paramagnetic centre nature, stabilized at 77 K, kinetics of their thermal decomposition and content of gel-fraction in irradiated polymer. However, total yield of paramagnetic centers decreases with LET increase, which is related to decomposition of some of them in the tracks at the expense of local heating
