Cyclic deformation of molybdenum single crystals

  • 1. Dept. of Materials, Queen Mary College, Univ. of London, Mile End Road, London E1 4NS

Description

Molybdenum single crystals with single glide orientation were cyclically deformed in tension-compression at four different temperatures and at a constant strain-rate of 6.0 X 10/sup -4/ s/sup -1/. The cyclic stress-strain curves were determined and that obtained at 400 K was studied in detail. It shows four stages like other b.c.c. crystals deformed near their transition temperature. The dislocation substructures have been analysed by T.E.M. in foils prepared from specimens deformed in each region
