Investigation of absorber elements of the THTR 300
Description
Automatic translation: At the request of the HKG and in coordination with the MWMT, tests were carried out on unirradiated operating element fragments in the hot cells of the KFA. 32 balls, some of which were severely damaged, were delivered, as well as dust and fragments from around 9 balls. The delivery did not contain any nuclear fuel, i.e. only absorber elements. The goods delivered were slightly contaminated, primarily with beta emitters, with the main activity being measured in a sieve fraction smaller than 0.5 mm, as expected. The typical fission products Zr 95, Ru 103, Rh 106, Ce 141/144 and Cs137 were detected by gamma spectrometry. Clearly detected activation products were Co 60, Hf 181/185, Sb124 and Pa 233.
Abstract (German)
Auf Wunsch der HKG und in Abstimmung mit dem MWMT wurden in den Heissen Zellen der KFA Untersuchungen an unbestrahlten Betriebselementbruchstücken durchgeführt. Angeliefert wurden 32 teilweise stärker beschädigte Kugeln sowie Staub und Bruchstücke von ca. 9 Kugeln. Die Lieferung enthielt keinen Kernbrennstoff, d.h. nur Absorberelemente. Das angelieferte Gut war leicht kontaminiert, vornehmlich mit Beta-Strahlern, wobei erwartungsgemäß die Hauptaktivität in einer Siebfraktion kleiner 0,5 mm gemessen wurde. Gammaspektrometrisch nachgewiesen wurden die typischen Spaltprodukte Zr 95, Ru 103, Rh 106, Ce 141/144 und Cs137. Eindeutig nachgewiesene Aktivierungsprodukte waren Co 60, Hf 181/185, Sb124 und Pa 233.Files
