Analysis of semi-continuous aluminium casting on the basis of autoradiographic investigations

Description
198Au was used in autoradiographic studies of the impact of the technological conditions of semicontinuous casting of aluminium and its alloys on the shape of the crystallization front and on the depth on the liquid phase. The analysis was performed the shape and dimensions of ingots, the technique of pouring the liquid metal into the crystallizer and the casting rate as variables. Taking into account the technological conditions, the liquid-metal temperature, the liquid-metal level in the crystallizer as well as both the temperature and the volume of the water cooling the crystallizer were considered constant. The obtained results may be used for automating the semi-continuous casting of aluminium and its alloys. (author)
