Operator solution to broken QCD(N)2 for massless quarks

Description
By explicit construction of solutions in gauges satisfying the Lorentz condition we give an operator realization of the dynamically broken Patrascioiu phase in QCD(N)2 for massless quarks. The SU(N) colour gauge group is reduced to its maximal abelian subgroup. The N-1 diagonal gluons become massive free fields and there is a massless free U(1) current. The contrast wtih the 't Hooft phase, established by the 1/N method, supports the idea of two distinct phases. (orig.) 891 WL

Durch explizite Konstruktion von Loesungen in Eichungen, die der Lorentz-Bedingung genuegen, wird fuer masselose Quarks in QCD(N)2 eine Operatordarstellung der dynamisch gebrochenen Patrascioiu-Phase angegeben. Die SU(N)-Farbeichgruppe ist auf ihre maximale Abel'sche Untergruppen reduziert. Die N-1 diagonalen Gluonen werden zu massenbehafteten freien Feldern und es existiert ein masseloser freier U(1) -Strom. Der Gegensatz zur 't Hooft'schen Phase, die durch die 1/N -Methode ins Spiel kommt, unterstuetzt die Idee zweier unterschiedlicher Phasen. (orig.)
