Description

The testing ground for thermal modelling of the B.E.Vedeneev VNIIG at the town of Narva (the Estonian SSR) is intended for extensive scientific research aimed at refining apparatus and facilities of water coolers of large power projects. Over the years of the existence of the testing ground more than 40 cooling pond models were constructed and tested there. In the course of studies procedures for hydrothermal modelling were improved and a number of effective cooled water circulation systems developed. Unique installations are available for studies on different cooling tower structural elements, such as packings, drift eliminators, spray nozzles, etc. The studies fulfilled served as the basis for the design of present standard cooling towers and spray ponds
