Foundations of the theory of three-dimensional quadrupolar mass-spectrometry. 2
Description
The theory and elements of the calculation of new three-dimensional quadrupolar time-of-flight mass spectrometers are presented. Obtained are relations determining the effective length of sensors of such an analyzer, depending on parameters of ion fluxes analyzed and required resolution. Data are summarized in the table. Discussed is a possibility to use quadrupolar mass reflectron in time-of-flight mass spectrometry. It is noted that there is a practically ideal focusing in such an instrument during the flight, which gives way to wide perspectives of using such a mass spectrometer for the analysis of ion fluxes with a large spread of energies of particles
