Environmental radioactivity monitoring for radiation protection during 1961-1982

Description

This report describes the work on environmental radioactivity monitoring which has been conducted since 1961. The work encompasses the measurement of gross beta radioactivity, strontium-90 and caesium-137 in air, water, rain water, fallout, soil, grass, vegetable and in some types of meat. The samples were collected from various locations covered all regions of the country. This work is aimed to ensure public health safety from radiation hazard due to the operation of the nuclear research reactor and nuclear weapon tests. The results show the level of radioactivity in the investigated samples are within the safety limit
