Description

The behaviour of californium in titanium columns, mendelevium and fermium in zirconium columns with a temperature gradient in vacuum was studied. The experimental values of the adsorption enthalpies on the surfaces of metallic columns are compared with the results of calculations for the enthalpy of adsorption in elemental state and dissociative chemisorption of the monoxides. Californium (on titanium), fermium and mendelevium (on zirconium) were found to be adsorbed in divalent metallic state. (author)
