Description

This article describes the apparatus Cabri, an experimental reactor designed for research and development in the fast neutron field on the subject of breeder reactor safety. The Cabri programme is aimed at the phenomenological study of tests carried out on a fuel pin representing that of a breeder. The main programmes developed at the CEA to back up the Cabri programme are described next: sodium boiling, movement of materials (cladding steel), fission product release kinetics and mechanical characteristics of fuel pin cladding

Abstract (French)

Cet article nous presente l'installation Cabri, reacteur experimental destine aux etudes de recherche developpement dans le domaine de la filiere a neutrons rapides en matiere de surete des reacteurs surgenerateurs. Le programme Cabri a pour objectif l'etude phenomenologique des essais effectues sur une aiguille combustible representative de celle d'un surgenerateur. On decrit ensuite les principaux programmes developpes au CEA en support du programme Cabri: ebullition du sodium, mouvement des materiaux (acier des gaines), cinetique de relachement des produits de fission et caracteristiques mecaniques des gaines d'aiguilles combustibles
