Residual stresses in pipes following drawing with use of ultrasonic technique
- 1. Ural'skij Nauchno-Issledovatel'skij Inst. Chernykh Metallov, Sverdlovsk (USSR)
Description
An effect produced by a single-pass and continuous sink ultrasonic drawing without intermediate annealing upon a residual stress value has been studied for Kh18N10T steel tubes. The number of tubes broken as a result of residual stresses in different stages of treatment has been recorded. Space diagrams are given showing the dependence of maximum tangential and longitudinal stresses on the outer surfacr of the tubes upon a deformation degree with respect to epsilonsub(S) wall thickness and epsilonsub(D) diameter. Ultrasonic sink tube drawing enables us to considerably increase single and total deformations without any risk of a drawn tube damage as a result of the residual stresses
