Turbulent heating using high power microwave

  • 1. Tokyo University, Institute of Space and Aeronautical Science, Tokyo (Japan)

Description

The method of turbulent heating which is different from 'so called' turbulent heating is proposed. In this heating method, first, high power microwave is incident on the current carrying plasma and excites ion acoustic waves by parametric excitation. These excited waves scatter the translational drift electrons (which carry the plasma current) and randomized the motions of the electrons and the ions. i. e. the resistivity is increased by wave-particle interactions. Therefore, the energy input (ηeff J2) is increased greatly. (author)
