Thermal desorption measurement of deuterium from graphite exposed to D2 gas atmosphere at elevated temperatures

Description
Thermal desorption measurements have been made on isotropic graphite exposed thermally to deuterium atmosphere under various conditions. Since the total amount of released D2 was proportional to the square root of D2 gas pressure during exposure, deuterium in graphite would exist as the solution in the form of deuterium atom. Deuterium uptake and release would be controlled by the diffusion process in each graphite filler particle. Diffusion coefficient is expressed by the equation: D(cm2-sec) = 1.69 exp (-60(kcal-mol)-RT). (author)
