Description
The HITOP device has been constructed at Tohoku University in order to investigate various magneto-hydro-dynamic (MHD) phenomena. High density (up to 1014 cm-3) plasma is formed by a magneto-plasma-dynamic (MPD) arcjet in a large vacuum chamber with a magnetic field of 0.2kGauss. The plasma is highly ionized and flows with a supersonic velocity. The plasma flow velocity is measured by a Mach probe and compared with the result from the time-of-flight (TOF) system. (author)
