The development of a sliding contact model for the finite element code EURDYN
Description
An extension of the EURDYN-1 finite element program is proposed to permit sliding contact between moving deformable structures. The mechanical reaction force at the point of contact is determined geometrically from the slip condition, and then written in terms of equivalent nodal forces. The methodology has been implemented into the axisymmetric EURDYN module coupled to the hydro code SEURBNUK. Sample calculations are presented to illustrate the use of the model in various contact situations. Effects due to separation and impact of structures are also considered. (orig.)
